Cleansing Your Home with Reiki ✨
Our homes hold energy just like our bodies do. Over time, stress, overwhelm, illness, arguments, grief, or simply the busyness of everyday life can create a sense of heaviness in a space. Reiki can be a beautiful and gentle way to restore harmony, peace, and balance within your home.
This practice does not come from fear of “bad energy” but rather from the intention to create a space that feels supportive, calm, nurturing, and aligned for you and your family.
Move slowly, trust your intuition, and allow Reiki to guide you.
Step 1: Prepare the Space & Yourself
Begin by physically clearing the room. Tidying and decluttering helps shift stagnant energy and creates more openness for fresh energy to move through.
Open windows or doors if possible to invite in fresh air and sunlight. As the air circulates, imagine anything heavy or no longer needed gently leaving the space.
Before beginning, take a moment to cleanse and ground your own energy. You may wish to perform a simple Reiki dry bath by sweeping your hands diagonally across your torso and down your arms. Take several deep breaths and reconnect with yourself before moving forward.
Step 2: Connect to Reiki & Set Your Intention
Sit quietly for a few moments and activate your Reiki energy in whatever way feels natural to you. You may rub your palms together, place your hands over your heart, or simply breathe and connect to the flow of Reiki.
Once you feel grounded, set a clear intention for your home. You may say something silently or aloud, such as:
"I lovingly release all stagnant or heavy energy from this home and fill this space with peace, harmony, protection, love, and light."
Step 3: Working with Reiki Symbols
The Reiki symbols can be incredibly supportive when cleansing and harmonizing a space.
Cho Ku Rei — The Power Symbol
Cho Ku Rei acts as an amplifier of energy. It helps break up stagnant or heavy vibrations and anchor positive Universal Life Force Energy in the room. I often think of this symbol as helping to strengthen and brighten the home's energetic foundation.
Sei He Ki — The Mental & Emotional Symbol
Sei He Ki brings emotional harmony and balance to a space. It can be especially helpful in clearing lingering emotional tension connected to stress, sadness, overwhelm, conflict, or difficult experiences held within the home.
Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen — The Distance Symbol
If you are sending Reiki to a home you are not physically in, or if a space carries a long history of heavy energy, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen can help you send healing energy across time and space with intention and compassion.
Step 4: Cleansing the Space
As you move through your home, visualize or gently draw the Reiki symbols into the space.
You may choose to draw Cho Ku Rei and Sei He Ki:
On the walls
Across windows and doorways
Into the corners of the room
Along the ceiling and floor
Into the center of the room itself
Move slowly and intentionally. There is no need to rush.
Pay special attention to entryways and windows, as these spaces often hold energetic movement. You may visualize the symbols creating a loving, energetic filter that allows supportive energy to enter while helping the home remain grounded and protected.
As you work, continue repeating your intention quietly within yourself.
Step 5: Smoke or Sound Cleansing (Optional)
If it feels aligned for you, you may also incorporate smoke or sound cleansing alongside Reiki.
You may choose to use:
Sage
Palo Santo
Incense
Bells or chimes
A singing bowl
Walk clockwise around the room, allowing the smoke or sound to move gently into corners, closets, doorways, and other spaces where energy can sometimes feel stagnant.
Trust your intuition throughout the process.
Step 6: Seal & Protect the Space
When you feel complete, stand quietly and beam Reiki throughout the entire home.
Visualize every room filling with warm white or golden light, peaceful, protective, grounding, and loving.
You may choose to draw Cho Ku Rei over your main entryways so that only loving and supportive energy can enter your home.
To close the ritual, place your hands together in gratitude, or gently clap to seal the energy. Take a deep breath and thank Reiki, your guides, yourself, or the universe for supporting the healing of your space.
Remember, your intention matters far more than perfection. Reiki flows where it is needed most.
Be Well,
Becky
