How I Weave Mindfulness Into My Everyday Life (As a Mom + Business Owner)
There’s a question I get all the time:
“How do you actually fit mindfulness into your day?”
The truth?
I don’t “fit it in.”
I live inside it.
Mindfulness for me isn’t a perfect morning routine or hours of silent meditation. It’s small, intentional pauses. It’s the way I enter the shower. The way I sit in my car. The way I place my hands on my own heart at night.
This is what it looks like in real life.
1. My Morning Shower Is a Ritual, Not a Rush
Before emails. Before noise. Before anyone needs me.
I step into the shower slowly.
I let the water run over my shoulders and imagine it clearing yesterday’s energy. I breathe deeply. I feel my feet on the floor of the tub. I let the warmth wake my nervous system gently instead of shocking it awake.
No podcast.
No scrolling.
Just water and breath.
It’s the simplest reset, and it sets the tone for everything that follows.
2. I Arrive at My Studio Early to Ground Myself
Before clients walk in.
Before the day fully begins.
I step into my studio space and pause.
Feet on the floor.
Deep breaths into my belly.
Sometimes a hand on my heart.
This is where I remind myself:
I am not here to fix anyone.
I am here to hold space.
Those few quiet minutes change the energy of the entire day.
3. We Do Cosmic Kids Yoga Together
Motherhood is part of my mindfulness practice.
Some mornings, we roll out the mats and turn on Cosmic Kids Yoga. It’s playful. It’s silly. It’s movement, imagination, and breath woven together.
Is it always peaceful? No.
Is it always perfect? Definitely not.
But it’s a connection. Its presence. It’s teaching my children that mindfulness doesn’t have to be serious to be sacred.
4. When I Have a Few Moments Alone… I Choose Silence
If I have even five minutes to myself, I turn everything off.
No music.
No background noise.
No multitasking.
I sit.
Sometimes I close my eyes. Sometimes I just stare out a window.
Silence recalibrates me. It brings my nervous system back to neutral. It reminds me that I don’t need constant input to be okay.
5. If I’m Alone in the Car, It’s Quiet
No radio.
No podcast.
No phone calls.
Just the hum of the engine and my own breath.
Driving becomes meditation.
Red lights become pauses.
The road becomes rhythm.
We underestimate how powerful these tiny pockets of quiet can be.
6. I Listen to a Guided Meditation Before Bed
At night, when the house is finally still, I put on a guided meditation.
Some nights I absorb every word.
Some nights I fall asleep halfway through.
Both count.
It tells my body: we are safe now. We can soften.
7. I Give Myself Reiki in Bed
This might be the most important one.
When I’m lying in bed, I place my hands on my body, over my heart, my belly, wherever feels tender that day.
And I offer myself Reiki.
No performance.
No perfection.
Just presence.
It’s my way of saying:
I am allowed to receive the same care I give.
Mindfulness Isn’t Another Thing on Your To-Do List
If you’re waiting for the perfect schedule…
The perfect silence…
The perfect life stage…
You’ll be waiting forever.
Mindfulness lives in showers.
In car rides.
In five quiet minutes.
In hands placed gently on your own body.
It isn’t about doing more.
It’s about softening into what’s already here.
And that’s something we can all begin, right now.
If you're unsure where to start, email me and let’s find your path together.
Be Well,
Becky
